I made all of the bouquets for my wedding and I just thought I'd share a few things I learned.
First off, floral tape is for morons. Go find yourself some white electrical tape. That is the stuff of the gods, my friends. arrange your flowers and decide where you want your ribbon. You may want just a small strip with a bow or your stems showing (like mine pictured), or the whole thing. In any case, where you want your ribbon, start your electrical tape. It stretchy, so pull tight. Then just hot glue your ribbon over the tape. Another thing is when you trim fake flowers, you get pokey wire sticking out. So dab a bead of hot glue on the ends of the stems to keep from scratching anyone (or worse: catching on your dress!!). I added a thin criss-cross of silver ribbon over my white satin, then pinned my something old and new and tied my blue at the top.
Another note: If you plan on doing your own and using fake, watch for sales at Hobby Lobby. Floral stems go 50% off every few weeks.
